Job summary
This is an entry-level position that requires an ability to work in a fast paced environment where multi-tasking and extremely short deadlines are standard operating procedure. This is a hands-on position that will require an unusual level of skill and adaptability. Under the direction of the Manager of Facilities or Lead HVAC Technician this position will be assigned tasks as varied as general HVAC maintenance and operation, mechanical systems maintenance, building exterior maintenance, data center suite assembly and maintenance (hosting cabinets, cages, and customer offices), and other technical and administrative duties as assigned. After hours work to fix down equipment is expected.
Summary of essential job functions
Willing to learn HVAC maintenance on large (20 to 30-ton) DX and glycol computer room air conditioners (CRACs), as well as common building HVAC systems. Mechanical systems support, ranging from commercial building routine maintenance to complex modifications and repairs on CRACs.
In addition general building maintenance, small construction projects, running network wiring, occasional exterior facility maintenance including cleanup, landscaping and parking lot maintenance.
Minimum requirements
This position requires a basic knowledge of all common hands tools and the tools required to conduct basic HVAC maintenance. This position requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, single line drawings (electrical/mechanical) work order documents, and contractual task orders and working around 480V, 3 phase power.
Abilities required
High School graduate and technical school training in HVAC and/or equivalent on the job experience required. Facility Maintenance experience very helpful.
Reasoning Ability
Above average ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in either written, oral, or diagram formats.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: NFPA 70E training and refrigeration license helpful.
Other Skills: Good working knowledge of various hand tools and work processes.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift loads up to 80 pounds, heavier loads with assistance.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, though work in the mechanical spaces will frequently exceed 84dbrn. The facility may be secured and the employee may be required to pass through various levels of security to gain access to the work space.
Other
Must be able to pass drug testing and extensive criminal background checks.
