DBSi Celebrates 25 Years of Innovation
DBSi 25th Year is Earmarked by Explosive Growth and Investment Massive Growth in Valley Forge
BETHLEHEM, PA, March 7, 2006 - DBSi, the leading regional provider of comprehensive Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Hosting Services, announced today its 25th anniversary of aiding companies in the mid-Atlantic region in achieving their business objectives through innovative approaches in the use of technology and delivery of services.
DBSi, a company with a long history of being able to stay one step ahead of the Information Technology (IT) evolutionary wave has been consistently able to anticipate the next service their clients require - and having it when they need it. From its roots at the beginning of the PC revolution, DBSi’s founder Bill Bachenberg has focused on what he believed to be the important trends and then proactively built solutions.
In the early 80’s DBSi designed, developed, and implemented accounting systems for mid-sized companies. This was during a time when 640K was the maximum amount of memory on a PC and many companies would have never dreamed of having a sophisticated IT system to track their business. As the 80’s progressed DBSi saw that pre-packaged applications where becoming the norm, but tremendous leaps in mid-range server and storage technology were occurring and there was a need for system integrators who had the vision and experience to help their clients select and implement the right hardware configurations for their specific application requirements. DBSi excelled in this area and became the 4th largest reseller of EMC storage products and the 16th largest server reseller for HP. As the 90’s came to a close DBSi recognized that server and storage products were becoming commodities and that sufficient skills transfer had occurred to allow the majority of data centers to install and implement their own IT infrastructures. DBSi also recognized the next great need within the industry was the reinvention of a service that was being provided by old guard companies who charged too much, were inflexible, and made dealing with them more complex than was necessary. This service then only known as disaster recovery has since expanded to the broader disciplines of business continuity and hosting services. Since the late 90’s DBSi has become the regional leader within these disciplines and has changed the way their clients look at these components of their business.
“DBSi has changed the rules when it comes to hosting and business continuity. They listen and return with creative and cost effective solutions that directly address our needs. They have a deep knowledge of technology and how best to utilize it to the benefit of their clients. It is clear they are focused on us and are in it for the long term; I rank DBSi as our top vendor - against all software, hardware and telecom providers” said William Friemann, Vice President Operations, Security + Compliance, Prudential Fox & Roach.
DBSi has brought agility into what was a, “my way or the highway”, approach of doing business by the monopolies that use to control this segment of the market. DBSi made contract terms client centric and molded them around the client’s needs. DBSi recognized, “The network is the computer”, even before Sun made the notion popular and has become a specialist in least cost routing and bandwidth management. By understanding the true nature of business continuity, DBSi was the first and only business continuity provider to contractually commit that resources required for a recovery will not be sold to any company within a 1 km safe zone of an existing DBSi continuity services client. This was not a cleaver marketing ploy but rather a common sense understanding that the majority of disasters are not tsunamis or hurricane Katrina’s, they are events that usually impact only a small perimeter around a company. DBSi is not only focused on getting your data center back up and running, but also on getting your business fully functional. This requires a focus on communications, workspace management, and data center infrastructure. DBSi has invested millions of dollars in all these areas. The objective is to provide a seamless environment so when a DBSi client declares a disaster, the customers of DBSi’s clients see no difference in service or responsiveness.
“DBSi does whatever it takes to ensure they meet and exceed client expectations. We had a declared disaster this past year and it was stunning what they did for us. They do not nickel and dime during rehearsals or disasters; they just get things done and ensure our IT infrastructure is restored as quickly as possible.” said Steve Hormell, Director of Information Technology, Answerthink, Inc.
DBSi starts its next quarter century with explosive growth. Its client base includes; SAP, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and NRG Energy among others. Its newly opened Valley Forge, Pa. Advanced Technology Center for hosting and business continuity is already being expanded due to client’s wanting more of the kind of original thinking and innovation that DBSi offers its clients. Additional sites are in the works, with DBSi being dedicated to anticipating their client’s requirements and delivering what they need just before they need it; allowing for a sound business model for DBSi and competitive advantage for their clients.
“DBSi has come to be known for doing the impossible,” said William Bachenberg, President/CEO, DBSi. “Be it from pulling together a recovery in half the time the client anticipates, to dynamically increasing the available infrastructure a hosted client requires during a spike in activity, to putting terms in our contracts that our competitors refuse to do. Our culture is to exceed our client’s expectations. We have been doing that since our inception and it is the foundation for DBSi as we move into our next quarter century.”
