DBSi Recovers Amerigas From Fire at Company Headquarters
BETHLEHEM, PA, June 7, 2010 – DBSi recently recovered AmeriGas, the nation’s largest propane company, serving over 1.3 million customers in nearly 50 states, from a fire at the headquarters of AmeriGas and their parent company, UGI. DBSi provided business continuity work area space, PC’s, telephones, and network connectivity for 160 AmeriGas employees at DBSi’s 125,000 sq. ft. recovery facility in Valley Forge, PA. AmeriGas has a well established and tested business continuity plan which allowed them to quickly notify DBSi and advise their employees where to report for work. Within 24 hours DBSi had all work area positions available allowing AmeriGas to continue critical business processes and maintain communication with customers, suppliers and field operations. “We were fortunate to have DBSi as a partner in our recovery plan. Long hours working side-by-side, clear communication, and a well rehearsed plan made the difference in what could have been a catastrophic situation for our organization”, said AmeriGas CIO, Rick Fabrizio. DBSi COO, Bob Hicks agreed, “AmeriGas achieved such a successful recovery because they consistently tested their plan at our recovery center and knew exactly what to do”.
AmeriGas quickly realized that it was going to be many months until their headquarters building was ready for occupancy. DBSi assisted in finding AmeriGas another office location by tapping its extensive network of business partners; designing the communication network for the new location and working with telecom providers made for a fast and effective implementation. AmeriGas plans to be back into their newly refurbished and upgraded building by September.
