DBSi Implements Significant Hotsite Platform Expansion
Substantially Expands Scope of Services
BETHLEHEM, PA, February 24, 2004 - DBSi, a major regional provider of comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity services, announces that it has completed the expansion of its hotsite server capability originally scheduled for the first quarter of 2004. This significant series of upgrades extends DBSi service offerings in the areas of Intel and AS/400 server technology, supporting the most comprehensive customer requirements.
Dozens of new Dell servers have been installed in support of expanding customer requirements and anticipated growth, consisting of high-end 1U, 2U, and 4U configurations. Bob Hicks, DBSi vice president of operations, comments that “we continue to see growth of Intel/Windows-based server requirements, particularly with our clients actively expanding their application portfolio and their Windows based infrastructure. We also strive to maintain a low customer-to-server ratio to be in a position to support flexible and available test time, and to properly support multiple disasters.”
In addition to the Dell servers, the data storage subsystems and AS/400 recovery capability have expanded. Existing LTO, AIT, and 3570 tape subsystems have also been expanded, enabling fast restoration of cross-platform data.
A spokesperson for a premier health care organization indicates “the new enhancements have been deployed by DBSi in advance of our particular requirements, so we can be assured that future testing and recovery operations can be successful. We also can comply with HIPAA regulations with respect to having a testable contingency plan in place that actually works”.
According to William Bachenberg, chief executive officer of DBSi, “while we continue to enhance our overall equipment and network capability to enable support of the most demanding customer requirements for disaster recovery and high availability services, we likewise continue to grow our technical support organization to match our new system deployments. We are first and foremost a service organization, and making effective service delivery is our number one, and always complimentary to our cross-platform recovery capability.”
DBSi implements multiple equipment and network hotsite upgrades based upon technology trends, existing customer requirements, and the need to maintain industry-leading resource availability metrics.
