Rehearsals

We believe in being a common-sense service provider, which is why we place such a high priority on disaster recovery rehearsal. Rehearsals are at the core of your ability to recovery in the event of an actual disaster.

DBSi: One Step Ahead
of Murphy’s Law
It’s not uncommon for something to go wrong in the middle of a rehearsal. That’s the whole point of rehearsing in the first place to uncover and address potential problems without the added pressure of an actual emergency.
But what happens if a problem arises at the end of your rehearsal window? If you’ve ever worked with one of the rigid old guard recovery providers, you know the frustration of being forced to leave the facility before the problem is solved.
At DBSi we schedule plenty of cushion to allow you to solve problems and be fully prepared for the future.

Most disaster recovery service providers allocate 1 to 2 rehearsals per year in 8 hours blocks; this may or may not be sufficient to fully test your environment.

At DBSi we provide up to 48 hours of rehearsal time during the first year and at least 24 hours for successive years.

Unsure when you will be able to rehearse? DBSi empowers its clients by allowing them to query the rehearsal calendar for open times and to schedule rehearsals through the client portal. Short lead times are usually not a problem; our focus is you.

Common sense should prevail at all times. We will not put you out in the cold if you are not done with your rehearsal in time or penalize you if you need access to equipment during your rehearsal that may not be on your equipment schedule. Many providers will provide exactly what your contract specifies and charge you for anything not on your equipment schedule. But at DBSi, if you come in for a test with 500 gigabytes in your contract but your needs have since increased to 750 gigabytes we’ll provide you with the storage space you need to get through the rehearsal. At the end of every rehearsal, we’ll help you assess your future needs in order to properly recover in the event of an actual disaster declaration.

DBSi has been built on “doing the right thing” for our clients; it is part of our DNA and something you can count on during rehearsals, an actual recovery, or on a day-to-day basis with our hosting clients.

The Real Cost
of Downtime

Failure of business critical services can cause a devastating loss of money. According to a 2001 Merrill Lynch/McKinsey report, each hour a business spends “down” can cost from $14,000 to $6.5 million, depending on the industry dollar amounts that are downright conservative by 2010 standards.

Once inflation and the increased prevalence of the Internet are factored in, the numbers could easily range from $25,000 to $10+ million per hour.
